Hello, chickabiddy.
I got a colouring book for myself and spent the evening colouring this picture. It was refreshing to not be bothered about colouring perfectly. I just wanted to have fun. It was very delimiting because it was perhaps for the first time that I was colouring in a colouring book when there weren't any rules, when I wasn't told what colours I was supposed to use and how I was to colour the picture, and most importantly I could take as long as I liked. I made clouds even though there weren't any clouds in the picture. I drew grass blades just the way I used to do when I was little, and I chose beautiful, bright crayons. It was so therapeutic and freeing.
While I coloured this picture, my mother sat on my right colouring in her own colouring book because I had persuaded her to do it too, and on my left sat the sweet, sweet nostalgia. It was a beautiful and happy evening.
Now, my new version of 'think outside the box' is 'colour outside the lines' because it just makes more sense to me.
Thank you for reading.
