"Aadi Pandigai" refers to Monsoon Festivals according to Tamil calendar. While there are series of "Aadi" events and stories, it starts with "Aadi Pirappu". Aadi is the 4th month in Tamil calendar, equivalent to Aashadh in other parts of India. Aadi Pirappu is the first day of this month and every one has different ways of celebrating it.

In our family, we gather and make a special dish with Coconut. Usually sweet, fresh and slightly tender coconuts are selected and stuffed with even more sweeter fillings. Alinji, a special tree's branch, is used to create a handle for the coconut through one of its soft eye openings. The stuffed coconut is then burnt in a woodfire in the open, and offered to the deity as Prasad.

Here's presenting you the "Aadi Pirappu" bookmark in remembrance of this celebration on 17th July, 2021 at my home.
Luckily I had this book called "Ponniyin Selvan" in my collection, with an exact title match - The Aadi festival! Am loving this bookmark even more now and this bookmark will be used for Ponniyin Selvan series only :D

Hope you got a good story and a bookmark, Enjoy!
