Hello, beloved reader.

For the last few days I've been reading not just one, but two books—an English novella and an Urdu novel.

I'm reading the novella in the usual manner but the same can't be said about the Urdu novel because I'm reading it to my mother.

During our conversations that revolved around books, her favourite novel and author would naturally come up and she'd tell me how absolutely great the novel is, and that I should read it when I get a chance. I like the glow on people's faces and the spark in their eyes when they are talking about their favourite books.

I'm really grateful that now I get to be a part of her favourite novel's world, along with her. I read with gusto while she lounges and listens as if she hasn't read it a dozen times. While reading aloud to her, I noticed that the lines or scenes that wouldn't make me laugh, if I were reading alone, seem hilarious to me now just because we get to laugh together.

Thank you for reading.
