Hello, cute creature.

Do you want to know something romantic?

Try to answer this question first: Why were surgical rubber gloves invented? To prevent infection? No. They were invented to protect the hands of Caroline Hampton, the chief surgical nurse at John Hopkins Hospital, from the caustic and harsh disinfectants used in hospital operating rooms at the time, which produced dermatitis of her hands and arms.

William Halstead, her boss, presented her with two pairs of rubber gloves and they got married shortly afterwards. At first it didn't occur to him that the gloves could be used as a powerful tool against infection. His primary concern was to protect her hands.

Later, Joseph Bloodgood found out that, apart from protecting the hands of doctors and nurses, surgical gloves also protected patients from infections, and the rest, as they say, is history.
